Southernmost Point

Details

Located at Whitehead & South Street, Key West, Florida.

Closer to Cuba (90 miles) than it is to Miami (150 miles), the Southernmost Point in the continental United States is also one of the most photographed spots. The Southernmost Point was originally marked with a small sign, before the City of Key West erected the now famous concrete buoy in 1983. The huge red, white, black, and yellow buoy sits at the tip of Whitehead Street and is a must see for every visitor. It has been said that when facing a little to the west of due south from this point on a clear night, one can look on the horizon and see lights in the sky above Havana.
