The family burger business began in Harlem in 1972, with Ronnie’s grandmother and her self-named burger joint called MAXINE’S.  Maxine was the first black female union butcher in the country.  From the 1950’s into the early 2000’s, Ronnie’s family owned and operated a number of the top restaurants, bars and butcher shops in Harlem – Maxine’s, Meat Masters, Twenty Two West, Dolls Bar, Jewels Bar to name a few.  In 2013, Ronnie continued the family burger business and recipes, with his own burger joint, located on Martha’s Vineyard.
