Founded as Boca Lago Country Club in 1975 as a membership-owned and operated equity club, it is now a privately owned non-equity model that is briskly disrupting the golf and country club industry in South Florida.

New ownership has infused $11 million in a comprehensive reinvention program that enhanced all aspects of the Club. This initial initiative included extensive clubhouse renovations, fitness center upgrades, pool amenity refurbishment, enhanced casual and fine dining venues, three championship golf courses recognized as Best New Course Design by the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (2018), an expansive Golf Academy-level practice facility and a new fleet of state-of-the-art Club Car golf carts. Granting an indelible nod to this increasingly popular, emergent key feature of membership, the Club was fittingly re-branded this year to include the word "golf" in its name: Boca Lago Golf & Country Club.
