In honor of the City of Hollywood’s 100th anniversary, the Hollywood Historical Society is proud to present a day-long Centennial & Founder’s Day Celebration on Sunday, August 3, 2025. This special event pays tribute to the city’s visionary founder, Joseph W. Young, Jr., and invites the community to experience the history, spirit, and pride of Hollywood through a full schedule of engaging and family-friendly activities. Residents and visitors alike are invited to enjoy a variety of events taking place in Downtown Hollywood and at historic sites throughout the city.
10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Dream Car Classic Car Show – Downtown Hollywood
Start the day at the beloved Dream Car Classic Car Show. Stop by the Hollywood Historical Society booth to pick up Centennial information, discover historic displays, and learn about the people and stories that helped shape Hollywood’s first 100 years.
11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Historic Downtown Walking Tour
Take a guided stroll through the city’s historic core with knowledgeable local historians. The tour begins at the northeast corner of Hollywood Boulevard and 21st Avenue and highlights some of the city’s earliest landmarks and architectural gems.
1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Hammerstein House Open House & New Exhibit – 1520 Polk Street
Explore the new exhibit, “Creating Community Circles,” featuring rare photos, artifacts, and documents from ten of Hollywood’s longstanding civic associations. The exhibit sheds light on the community leaders and grassroots efforts that contributed to the city’s growth and identity over the past century. Admission is free and open to all.
5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Founder’s Day Fun at Mickey Byrnes – 1921 Hollywood Boulevard
Wrap up the celebration at this lively social gathering featuring a Joseph W. Young, Jr. Look-Alike Contest and a Hollywood Trivia Challenge. Participants are encouraged to dress like the city’s founder and show off their best impression. Registration for the contest begins promptly at 5:00 p.m
